Family Fun During the Holidays
Hi friends,
Tamara, our youngest daughter, and her three children were here withus for a few days. We had lots of thick snow, so they all went tobogganing at Hudson Road School where there are plenty of safe hills with nice long runs.
The children are two boys ages 8 and 11 and a girl aged six. A tobogganis different from most sleds or sleighs because it has no runners orskis on the underside. The bottom rides directly on the snow. Toboggans can carry one or more people. Tamara often when down a run with herlittle girl, and sometimes with one of the boys. They went each daywhile they were here, and for several hours.
One day Tamara decided to make the visit memorable by taking the kidshorse-back riding. She made arrangements with a stable known as "Mandyand Me." Mandy is a horse. Each child and Tamara had their own horse. Thelittle girl wasn't at all afraid and the boys were told that they are "natural riders." I'm really not surprised since they have Spanish and Mayan background on their father's side. Now they want to take riding lessons in their own home town and the eldest boy has been offered a summer job as a "stable rat" and riding lessons when he's a couple of years older. He would stay with us, of course, and go to the rancheach morning.
Now we've recovered from the visit and three eager little voiceschattering all the time, we're packing to leave for our Gold Wedding Anniversary trip to Mexico. We're going to a place we've been a number of timesbefore, over the years. It has a wonderful beach and, so far as weare concerned it provides all that we enjoy. We have friends therewho have an English school. If we're lucky we'll be able to spend sometime enjoying English Conversation with a few of the classes.
The weather has been very unpredictable this winter so we decided to fly from here to Vancouver, and on directly to Mazatlan. We'll behome in two weeks.
I hope you had enjoyable holidays, too. If you celebrate Jan. 1 as New Year then I wish you a happy and successful 2007.
Best wishes to everybody!
Warmly, Mary
