A Lion and a Mouse
Act 1
A lion is creeping around the outside of the room, he is smelling the ground, looking up into the air, listening with his head set to the side. He is very quiet.
3 mice are walking along, singing, making noise with their feet, they laugh and
shout.
The lion suddenly stops and looks over and sees the mice. The mice do not see the lion.
The lion creeps up to the mice and jumps on one! The others run away squealing.
L. Aha, I caught you!
M. Ohhhh! Help me! A lion has caught me! Please don't eat me! I am too small.
You will still be hungry.
L. You are only a little mouse and I AM hungry. I will eat you but, yes, I will
be hungry still. I will have to keep looking for something bigger to eat like a
duck or a rabbit or a chicken.
M. I can help you. I can be your friend. Let me go and I will save you some day.
L. How can a little mouse save a great big lion like me? Ha, ha, ha! You are so
small but I agree with you, it is not worth eating you, I will let you go now.
If you see a rabbit or a chicken or a duck you must tell me, ok?
M. Ok and you will see that I really can help you some day for saving my life.
L. I don't think so!
The Lion continues to creep around the stage as the Mouse runs quickly away off
the stage.
Act 2
The Lion is creeping around the stage. Suddenly 5 hunters jump on him and tie him up with a long piece of rope!
H. Aha, look what we have! It is a big lion. We will sell him to a zoo. We will get lots of money and will be rich! Come let's have dinner! Let's celebrate
and then we will retun and take him away to a zoo.
They go off the stage, happy and shouting.
The lion, being tied up and struggling, cannot move. He begins to shout.
L. Someone help me! Another lion friend, come and save me! Help, Help, Help!
The Mouse quietly enters the stage. He creeps along and finally creeps up to the
Lion. He is very frightened.
M. H- H- H- Hello Lion. Why are you sad? Are you still hungry? Please don't eat me!
L. I wastied up by some men. They will sell me to a zoo. I will live in a cage
. That is so bad! Please help me. I did not eat you so now you help me. Go find another lion to save me!
M. If I find another Lion he will eat me first!
L. Then go away, you can not help me.
M. I will chew the rope and you will be free.
Mouse chews on the rope. Lion struggles and suddenly is free. As Lion runs away he shouts,
Thankyou Mouse for saving me!
You are an honest mouse and we will be friends forever!
If you need my help someday, just shout LION, HELP ME and I will come!
Bye!
Mouse happily runs off stage in other direction .
