Another short play for children....written by Canuck
A Monkey, a Lion and a mouse were living at the zoo. The Monkey was in a cage and as he looked out and was not happy. He walked around his cage and then sat quietly beside the bars.
The Lion was in his cage and when he looked around from his cage, he was not happy either. He walked around his cage looking out at the world. He then sat down by the bars and looked sad.
The mouse lived in a warm little hole in the grass between the cages of the Lion and the Monkey and he looked very happy with a big smile on his face.
L. Why are you so happy, mouse? I am a big Lion. I have big teeth, see! I can do anything and I can eat you. You are a small mouse, so weak, nobody looks at you.
The Mouse smiled at the Lion and said nothing.
The Monkey saw the Lion talking to the little mouse and shouted,
Monkey: I am a wise monkey! I can do anything! I can hang climb trees with my tail, I can eat a banana like this! You are such a little thing and can do nothing. Why are you so happy when you are so small and can do nothing like me? Don't you wish you were a monkey?
The mouse looked at the Monkey but he said nothing, he only smiled.
Then the mouse looked up into the sky at the sun and the clouds, he looked around at the interesting buildings and people.
Mouse: I think I will go for a walk on this beautiful day. There are so many interesting things to see and to do, and with a big smile off he went to enjoy the beautiful day.
The Lion looked from his cage over to the Monkey in his cage and then at the happy mouse as it went for a walk in the warm spring sunshine.
L: Ohh, I wish I could go for a walk...
The Monkey looked at the Lion in his cage..
Monkey: I wish I could go climb that tree and see everything around from the top .
Then the Lion and Monkey both lay down on the ground and each of them wished that they were only a little mouse.
