The next morning we had a liesurely breakfast in our hotel room. Every evening
I prepare a container of dates, various sorts of nuts, some sugared ginger, a
couple of dried prunes, some dried cranberries and some strips of dried mango to
be eaten with breakfast. So this morning we had them from little individual bags. There was some salad left and Ben made coffee using the coffee maker andcoffe provided with the room. We read the Globe and Mail as we ate. Karen called with greetings for our Golden Wedding. WE forgot to congratulate HERon her birthday which was this day, because we talked with her about so many other things.

We dressed, packed our carry-on bags from the overnight use, and went to the airport by the van the hotel supplies. We arrived at 11:30 am, which was just in time to eat lunch so I got a table while Ben went to the same place we gotthe good food the day before and bought something for lunch. I think we atea Greek style slice of pizza, each. They have a wide variety of large slicesof freshly baked pizza. I preferred the Greek type with its black olives and
Greek cheese. Ben went to look around a bit and found a small calculator to
check the offerings for various currencies at money exchanges. We always take
Mexican money with us for tips and such things. It's important to consider where you access money, so we change money at the airport or our bank before leaving
Canada. Then when we reach our destination we are also careful.

While we were at the airport we sat on a large balacony above the food stands and tables which most people occupied. We had more space and privacy and could look down upon all the activity. From there we could also see the Bill Reidstatue. It is a huge and excellent piece of art. Bill Reid was partly nativeIndian and is famous for his art which ranges from small pieces of jewellery to
huge pieces like this cast bronze piece the colour of deep green jade. It is a
canoe filled with many of the Beings important in the culture of the coastal natives. It is far larger than life size and floats in a large area floored
with black marble. You can walk on the marble, right up to the piece. When
Jeannie came we took some photographs there and I expect to send pictures to
Jenny, which I hope she will post so you all can see them. We still need to
have them developed. Ben has been busy with business already, ever since hecame home. The busy spring financial season has begun well, as I'm sure Neilwould also tell you.

Jeannie arrived promptly at two. She looked healthy and pretty and we took
pictures around the sculpture. We had a very kpleasant and loving visit of
about 2-1/2 hours and talked about all kinds of things. We and our kids arenever short of things to talk and speculate about. We're all cut from the same piece of cloth. :-)) Now she is confident about taking the right bus from home
in Downtown Vancouver to get to the airport by herself. We looked around the huge and interesting airport where there are people from everywhere and shops
full of all kinds of curious things. At about 4:45 we walked her partway to where she would catch her bus on another level and called our hotel to be picked up
by the shuttle. We took a fish salad with us and went to be about 8 pm.

We were awakened by a phone call from Tamara. She had had a car accident on
black ice. Tamar had eight stitches in his forehead. All had been wearing seatbelts but his head hit some part of the car door. They went to hospital and he
had many tests, but was fine. No brain injury. The car in front of them had hit black ice and feeling that swerved sideways and stopped. They hit the ice and
slid into the other car. We talked about the ramifications of being without a
car and how to handle the situation where technically she was at fault because she had hit the other car from behind. All this is part of the routine of what goes on when there is a lot of damage. Their car couldn't be driven. The police
and ambulance had come. She was still quite shaken and I made a point of working to talk her down and to steady her. This is best done by soothingly telling
her that it is all over. All is finished and now she can relax and carry on. And so on. I'm sure you all know how its done. And then back to
sleep again until 5:30 am the next morning when we would dress, eat, repack, and
go to the airport to claim our two large bags where they were stored, go through security and board the plane for Mazatlan, Mexico.
