Many thanks to the dear friends who sent such warm welcomes to meafter I sent my first post, which I must add took quite a long time!
First off I would like to extend very big and extremely warm wishesto you all on the occasion of your Chinese New Year. May you and you families
all be blessed with good health, prosperity, and true happiness.
It would seem that these blessings are renewed each new year and thismakes the celebration very special indeed.
I have heard a little about your celebrations and the young studentswho have sent me this information seem to be very excited and happywith the decorating, lights, visiting, buying gifts, and being home with family.
From this description, a person here immediately things of the ways we do this here in Canada but thank goodness we are all blessedwithimaginationand creativity
so that we can prepare for celebrationsin
original and very unique ways. I would very much much love to experienceyour Chinese New Year. I think you must have huge fireworks displays,
do you? In Vancouver, every year fireworks manufacturers gather to display their most elaborate fireworks andit is a competition, a very huge affair. Thousands of people go tosee this. Also, in the United States, in Arizona, where
my youngest daughter lives, a similar competition is carried out every year. When I was in Quanzhou, during the period of the MoonFestival, there was fireworks.
I met a very lovely lady who moved to Canada from Africa in the l970's. This lady who is 65 has travelled to Africa three times the past threeyears following the shipment of loads of relief items which she has gathered over the year. She has very little money and it is very hard but she has done it.
Now again she is going in April. I am happy that I have a friend in Johannesburg who is going to help this lady, by giving her a place to stay and a place to keep all the suitcases and other equipment she is shipping to Africa. This lady warms my heart with such an expression of love. She is to stay in Africafor 5 months distributing the things she has gathered.
