Hello Forum Friends~~

I am sitting here at 8:00 a.m. and thinking – boy it's been a long winter –
and I remember how hot it was in Quanzhou and thinking that it wouldbe nice to have some of that heat right now!
We had a phone call from our number 2 daughter last night . Sheand her husband have just returned home to Edmonton Alberta after aweekend of skiing in Jasper Alberta. Once a year they and their colleaguesfrom their work place stay at Jasper Park Lodge, a lovely resort on theoutskirts of Jasper and they drive up to Marmot Basin, a great ski area.
This winter has seen exceptional snow and from the reports the skiershave been very happy. Many of the ski areas here have, and continue
to, expand and develop, with more chair lifts and perks becauseof the demand and developers are building condominiums at the ski hills.
People from other countries buy these condominiums and use them as they
wish and the rest of time they rent them out. From many of thecondominiums a person can ski right out onto a slope and go down toboard a chair lift. Some of these ski areas have become little villageswith stores and restaurants and the whole bit. The towns near theseski areas flourish too in the winter and they are a hub of activity as manypeople stay in motels and eat and participate in the entertainment.

We have also had a phone call from our youngest daughter who livesin Arizona, U.S.A. She tells us that she is moving back to Canada andwe are all so very happy. She is moving to the town where we alllived when the girls lived at home. She will be practicing family
medicine and also serve as anesthesiologist at the hospital. She andher husband love to mountain bike and ski, both downhill and crosscountry and they have a little seven year old boy so this will be a bigchange for him and as you know there is no snow in Arizona. Hintonhas a Nordic center and people from many countries come there toparticipate in the cross country ski events.
Carol's husband has a degree in Forestry but he has not been able to do thisso maybe now he will as Hinton Alberta is a huge pulp and papertown and the forests are a major industry.

I am really enjoying your letters – such a variety of topicsand interests. Have a great day!

Kindest regards, Sonia
