We should show more respect to young children
My brother in law traveled to Hongkong the day before Yesterday, so that I can drive his car these days. Last night, I drove my daughter to the park to go roller skating. On our way home, I turned on the radio on the car, a young man was telling a story then. The story is as the following:
On day, I was to visit one of my old friends in the north of the city. So I
got on a bus. There were not many people on the bus, so I got a seat, and there
was one more seat on my side. At the next stop, a young woman and a little girl
of about 7 got on the bus, but there was only one seat left on my side, so I stood up and gave the seat to them two. The little girl said thanks to me, and smiled to me happily. Just after bus started, the little girl sat a bit closer to her mother ,and make some room for me. I sat down, and said thanks to her too. The
bus drove along, and an old man and Young man got on the bus at another stop. So the little girl and I stood up and gave the seat to the old man. So the old man took the seat. The little girl stood by my side, and I found that the she was
a bit unhappy. At the fourth stop, the old man stood up and gave the seat to the
young man who got on the bus at the same bus stop and then got off the bus. Then I saw something shinning They were tears. At the next stop. The little girl and her mother got off the bus. Though the bus still hadn’t got to the bus stop which I meant to get to, I got off the bus together with the little girl. I asked
the little girl, “Why were you unhappy, and even cried at last?” “The old grandpa isn’t as good as Linlin (Linlin is the name of the little girl.), He didn
’t say thanks to Linlin. And he gave the seat back to Linlin,”
Another day, I was driving my motorbike along the road and thinking about something, when suddenly I heard someone shouting behind. I stopped my motorbike and looked behind. It was an old man who is over his seventies. It had rained the
day before, so there was some water on the road, so some dirty water was spilled over his trousers when I passed by. I saw the water and knew what happened, so
I said sorry to him immediately. “Are you blind?”was the first word he said to me. I said, “I am sorry, it’s my fault, I didn’t pay attention to the water
on the ground.” “Are you blind? Can’t you see so much water?” I said sorry
to him again, and took out a piece of paper handkerchief, and was about to clean
the dirty water on his shoes. But before I could do that, some dirty words from
his mouth stopped me. I stood straight and said, “I am sorry.” After that, I
turned back to my motorbike and drove it away. But I can still hear the dirty words from the behind.
In China, we always say that we should show our respect to the old and love
the young. Yeah, it’s true there are so many old people of high morality and great reputation. And it should be our manner to respect the old, no matter what
kind of an old man he or she is. But, what should the young children be in our eyes? Only love? No, sometimes they are more respectable.
