Bearded Angel rescued Uncle Ben
Dear Forum Friends
Last week I visited the local Drivers License office. My license expires in December. In December I hope to be in San Diego, Southern California. Therefore I had to renew my license now. It will be good for five years.
They take your picture at this office, which then becomes part of your Drivers license. It did not take too long and I came out, went to my parked car. This is an old 1984 Diesel VW Rabbit. I like it very much, because it is good in snow and also very easy on fuel. That has become an important issue these days.
As I drove away, with my window open I heard a shout:" Hey you, your tire is flat, pull over!" Of course I pulled to the side of the street and got out of the car to see for myself. True enough my right rear tire was absolutely flat and I was already driving on the rim as the saying goes. I looked around to who had noticed my predicament. A tall, sun tanned middle aged man with a big beardcame towards the car.
"I can help you ! " he said, " if you have a spare and tools." I answered: " Yes I have a spare, and I can also call the Automobile Club". Mary and I belong to the Canadian Automoblie Club. They send emergency vehicles to help, but it usually takes 30 to 45 minutes for them to come. The service then is free, and if needed they will tow you to a repair shop.
" Well he said, I have some time, my wife is still in that office, and I would be glad to help you!" So I said OK. He got the tools out of the trunk and jacked up the car. Then he loosened the wheel nuts. The bad wheel came off. the spare tire was on in a very short time. Actually he had me ready to go in less than 10 minutes. I asked him what he did for a living. He told me that he was a Heavy Equipment Operator. That means Bulldozers, Backhoes and Graders. I looked in my wallet for some moeny, but all I had was five dollars.
However the man refused to take anything and said: " I was glad to be able to do my good deed for the day!" That is why I think he was an Angel.
