Tonight I ordered my vegetables and fruit for next week.
Hi friends!
This evening I placed my first order for very fresh, organically grown localproduce and imported organically grown produce. It should come next Wednesday in a big plastic bin. It'll cost me $39.70.
They send an email each week with all their offerings and you can add or subtract to a standard basket. I added and subtracted quite a lot, and this is what Iordered:
Edited Urban Harvest Web Order for the week of Week of Feb 25, 2008 fromwww.urbanharvest.ca. (I'm giving you friends the web-site so you can seesomething very interesting, and very Canadian, if you care to look.
You may wonder what Kamut, Spelt, Rye bread is. Rye is a well known grain, but Kamut and Spelt are not. They are ancient grains that were used millenia agoby people like the Egyptians. The seed has been revived for present day use. They offer some nourishment that is valuable. Here's a copy of my order. Howdoes it compare to what you would buy in your grocery store for a week? I thinkyou might have quite a few different ingredients than we eat here. What do yousay?

I could have ordered their standard basket for $30.00 and requested one every week, but I prefer to be a "Flex" customer. That means they will only send me a basket of produce when I place an order.
I changed quite a few of the items in the basket. For instance, I didn't needany garlic, and I don't eat onions. I have enough apples for now, and onlywant to buy Royal Gala apples because they are lower in acid than most varieties . I added the loaf of bread and some yogurt.
This is an experiment on my part. When our youngest daughter, the one who istraveling home from El Salvador in Central American just now, was last here shestrongly recommmended that we buy this way for healthier and fresher produce, as she does in the city where she lives. This is my first order. I hope thatI will consider it good value for the money. I'll let you know. :-))
Friendly good wishes from Canada. Maryk
