I told you so!
For those movie people interested in American movies, you may recall my recent defense and favorable review of the movie "No Country for Old Men". Well, as it turns out, the movie got the highest possible award for "Best Picture" at this year's Academy Awards, which are decided by the industry's professionals. So, let no one dispute my taste and expertise in such matters in the future!
Now, let me make an even more controversial recommendation for only the boldest of my Chinese friends from the plate of American popular culture. This is a long form music video of the singer Madonna's "Confessions" tour concert. This video recently got the Grammy award for best video, so again, my cultural taste is verified. But I must warn my staid and somewhat boring Chinese friends that there are some rather shocking elements including rather suggestive sensual images and a bit of very bad language directed at George Bush. But it has the most wonderful music and incredible dance choreography I have every seen. If you want to know what is happening in American pop music, this is the place to see it.
And on the political front, my daughter April and I recently voted in the primary election and caucus in Texas. I will attempt to post the picture of her as she arrives for her first presidential campaign. Then, when we attended the caucus (which is a political meeting to select representatives) my dear April was voted to be the Chairman of the local delegation for Barack Obama, the next president of the United States! I am certain this is just the beginning of her political career that will culminate in her election as Queen of the World, a job I have carefully trained her for. The people are about to take back the American government and we will make the US a great and respectable nation again, dedicated to peace.
