For Mary1212 and others. A couple of English sayings.
Dear Mary1212,
Thanks for responding so quickly,
Isn't it wonderful to let the spring sunshine come in through sparkling windows! Today it was warm enough for me to do a few as I did a few days ago but I didn't . I preferred to sew. Since I cleaned those few windows it became chilly outside and I didn't feel like using liquid on cold windows so I stopped and started doing machine sewing changes and repairs on some clothing and things for the house.
We have a saying you may know already: "A stitch in time saves nine." That's a woman's saying, isn't it? I like this one, too: "Waste not, want not." I find it to be very true. It makes me feel warm and satisfied when I can follow both of those sayings and make something last longer so I don't need to buy new, or by not wasting I save spending some money.
Have you ever thought of this? "A penny saved is a penny earned." And you know , it is not a taxed penny, either! It is a good thing for the world and for our families and ourselves to be thrifty. We shouldn't be tight and greedy. But to be thrifty is a good sensible way to be. It even sounds like a good word. I like it very much. Choosing to be thrifty makes it possible for Ben and me to go on our trips. There are always rewards of some kind from being thrifty. Thriftis a very good attribute to have.
Now I have given some English sayings, and used the words "thrifty" and "thrift. " I hope you liked this little article dear Mary1212. I'm glad to hear that yourson is healthy again.
Warmly, Auntie Mary
