My speech in the contest of New Concept English Cup
Hello,Ladies and Gentlemen.
Thank you all for being here . I am very happy to have this opportunity to speak here,Before I start my speech,I ,d like to ask you a question: what’s your feeling about English and English learning.
Yes, today I am going to expressing my opinions about English and English learning,
As we all know, English is getting more and more important after China’s WTO entry. There are more and more foreigners doing business in China and more people are coming to China for travel than ever before.
And what’s more, Peking is going to host the 2008 Olympic.Then there will be thousands of foreign tourists coming for it. All these mean that we will have to meet and communicate with more and more foreigners.
As we all know , English is the world language, and it’s also the most popular tool of communication between people from all over the world. From this , we can come to realize that it’s necessary for us to master English .we are supposed to master English if we went to make friends with foreigners.
In order to show our determination, my friends I suggest: Let’s yell out the following words:
I can’t stand my poor English
I can’t stand my ten years of wasted time
I can’t stand being looked down upon
I want to improve my situation.
I want to change myself
I want to successful
I don’t want to let my parents down.
I don’t even want to let my country down.
Most important, I don’t want to let myself down
I want to speak good English
I want to understand all kinds of accents
I want to translate freely between Chinese and English
How do you like this article ,I think it’s the reflection of our minds.
We know, we will come to meet many troubles when we are learning English, but never say die, because there is nobody bored with the talent of speaking English.
Rome is not built in one day. But so long as we spare no effort on it, I strongly believe that we will make great progress soon.
And there is an old saying :Practice makes perfect. Describing it ,I will make a comparison as follows:
If you want to drive you have to get in the car and drive. If you want to dance you have to turn on the music and dance, If you want to swim you have to jump in the water and swim. So if we want to speak English,if we want to master English,we should practice again and again
Finally I’d like to summarize what I have said: Don’t hesitate, let’s act at once
Let’s all be together,
let’s struggle together,
let’s jell together: English should be a piece of cake .
Success should be ours
21st century should be ours
